We’re proud to present this standout project from our recent portfolio. This mid-century modern renovation in San Diego showcases our expertise in transforming challenging spaces into stunning, functional landscapes. Every element reflects our commitment to quality and innovation, from retaining walls to lush plantings. Let this project inspire your own outdoor transformation with Sal & Bros.
The home we worked on is part of the Pacifica neighborhood near Mission Bay in San Diego. This area features several models of Palmer & Krisel homes, designed by the renowned architect William Krisel. Krisel is known for his work on the Alexander homes in Palm Springs and is estimated to have designed 40,000 living units throughout his career.
The Pacifica tract, built by Leonard Drogin, showcases Krisel’s ability to create practical, cost-effective designs that still maintain a strong sense of style. These homes, originally built in the 1960s, represent an important part of San Diego’s architectural heritage.
Tim’s mid-century modern property in San Diego presented a unique set of challenges. “They told me they could build a retaining wall. When I saw their work, I knew they were landscape artists. What started as a 35-foot wall turned into a full property makeover. Now I have a new driveway, basketball court, fruit orchard, tropical gardens, and a chicken palace that’s the talk of the neighborhood!”
Tim also shared that Sal & Bros was a pleasure to work with. He praised our team as amazing, friendly, extremely knowledgeable, and having an absolute “can-do” attitude. Everything he wanted was accomplished with this project and then some.
As someone who likes to be involved in every decision, Tim appreciated our collaborative approach. He noted that Sal & Bros excelled at bringing ideas and creative solutions to various issues along the way.
What really stood out for Tim was our initial interaction. He remarked, “Sergio (the owner of Sal & Bros) brought the energy, and that’s why I went with them! Every other landscaper came and quoted me a price, while Sergio quoted me a dream and the confidence to make it happen.”
